Jolis & Simone - St 1979 (AOR/Westcoast)

James Jolis and Kevin Simon are two illustrious strangers who, through the involvement of producer Ron Dante, unable in 1979 to obtain a contract with Columbia and to publish work under his own name. The album, recorded in New York, it reveals a nice surprise and shows the remarkable qualities of the duo both as authors and as singers. To be honest the album does not start very well, presenting their opening two tracks less successful, but bounced back quickly with a series of superbly crafted songs that dominate the beautiful vocal harmonies of the two artists, supported by an excellent array of New York session musicians. Hard to choose the best piece from the excellent compositions that bear the signature of Jolis & Simone, but I would say that the beautiful "Just a Little Love", "Midnight Lady", "I am shy" and "Roundabout Midnight" are at a higher level, so as the only cover is present, the delightful "I love makin 'love to you" by Evie Sands.
